Ryde Secondary College is a co-educational high school, offering a comprehensive and quality education for all students from Years 7-12. It is a partially selective high school offering two academically selective classes in each year from Years 7-10.

An additional gifted and talented class is offered in each year group, selected using school-based assessments. In most years, three additional mainstream classes are also offered.

The College also provides differentiated learning for students with special needs, with three classes in the Support Unit.

Diversity

With an enrolment of over 1400 students, RSC is a co-educational high school with an academically selective cohort, a gifted and talented stream, mainstream classes and a Special Education Unit for students with special  needs. 70% of students come from multi-lingual backgrounds. Diversity is a major characteristic of RSC.

Sport

All students have the opportunity to participate in Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country carnivals as well as Interschool activities.

Tuesday Sport includes a wide range of Grade and House Summer Sports, Winter Sports and Social Sports.

Student Leadership

Opportunities for school leadership exist within our team of twelve prefects and four captains. The positions are elected by both the students and staff.

Our captains lead our prefect body and manage our regular College Assembly program.

2025 YEAR 7 GIFTED AND TALENTED TESTING

RSC will be conducting the early entry (Year 7) 2025 Gifted and Talented testing day on Thursday 25 July 2024 - (Week 1 Term 3)

All details are available on our enrolments section page including the enrolment requirements.

Applications will also be available from local area public primary schools.

College Tours are held on Wednesday afternoons and start at 3.30pm promptly and conclude at 5pm.

We suggest getting to the College earlier to allow for parking at this time of day.

Opportunity

We have a wide range of opportunities for students to participate in activitiees, competitions and performance at Ryde Secondary College.

These include our Concert Band, String Ensemble, Choir, Jazz Band, Rock Bands, Drama and Dance programs, Public Speaking and Debating program, SRC, Prefect team, a wide range of competitions, RSC Creative, Ryde Idol and Annual Fashion Show, sport competitions and programs.

There are more than 100 co-curricular or extra curricular activities including sporting activities. These create opportunities for students to develop a wide range of talents and interests and achieve at the highest levels.

Entry for students in Years 8-12 are determined by the local school's decision committee. Please note that there will be a limited number of spaces.

Ryde Secondary College String Ensemble

The String ensemble has developed its performance skills over the last decade.  Activities beyond school and community performances have included the Ryde Secondary College String Ensemble travelling to ‘Nimmitabel’ in Hampton NSW to play in a beautiful rural setting.
