At Ryde Secondary College we are at the heart of our community.

We understand the importance of being an integral member of our local community and are proud of our reputation as a school with rich traditions and deep connections to that community.

We have successfully built collaborative partnerships that provide our students with opportunities to make a difference and demonstrate their passion to become responsible global citizens. By contributing to their local community our students develop a sense of their place in society and gain valuable experiences that help develop integrity, empathy and respect. Our students participate in these initiatives with enthusiasm, creativity and pride.

A strong sense of community also exists within Ryde Secondary College. Working in an open partnership between parents, school and our community we are proud to serve our local families and deliver a first class education to our students. We also have an involved and proactive P&C team who work in partnership with the college to make valuable contributions to the local community.

Our College has forged positive relationships with local Primary schools and actively works with these schools in providing a seamless transition from primary to secondary school working with students and families to meet their needs and exceed their expectations.

At Ryde Secondary College we are committed to providing a dynamic and inspiring education for our students.

We are a co-educational partial selective high school for students from Years 7 to 12, providing a broad and engaging curriculum all students. Our students may be placed in:

  • an (externally selected) selective stream of 60 students
  • a high performers' mainstream class in each of the junior years
  • three or more mainstream classes
  • a Special Education Support Unit at Ryde Secondary College.

Our school community fosters a dynamic and collaborative learning environment in which every student is valued and engaged in collaborative learning. A wide range of talents and interests are nurtured and relevant skills developed for the changing world of work.

Ongoing professional learning enables our teachers to continually build upon their knowledge and skills for high quality learning experiences. A strong focus of current professional learning is developing students critical thinking, curiosity, creativity and problem solving skills.

Our students are encouraged to engage with others, be compassionate,connect and become active in our school community. More than 80 co-curricular activities enable students to develop their talents, leadership skills and constructive relationships.

Students are supported by a positive school culture and by our focus on our core values of respect, responsibility and resilience. Our extensive merit award program rewards students for their effort, achievement and participation.

Our school environment

There is much to see, experience and participate-in at RSC. Our school environment includes:

  • A modern Multi-Purpose Centre for sporting and performing arts activities and Volleyball Academy
  • A Movement Centre (for drama, dance and concerts)
  • An ICT Centre (for multi-media production)
  • Fully networked computing labs connecting to all classrooms in the college, college-wide wifi
  • Fully equipped Science Laboratories
  • Specialist Hospitality, Design and Technology, Visual Arts and Music classrooms
  • A modern Library/Resource Centre equipped with audio-visual, internet and computing facilities
  • Fitness Lab - open to Years 9-12
  • COLA – synthetically turfed
  • Landscaped grounds and courtyards providing many opportunities to connect and work with your peers.
