Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements.  These include providing more healthy food and drink options - to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students.  Visit Healthy School Canteens to learn more.

The RSCommunity Canteen has been run by the Ryde Secondary College Parents and Citizens Association (through its Canteen Subcommittee) since October, 2019. All profits are returned to the College to support teaching and learning. The canteen operates within Healthy School Canteens guidelines provided by the NSW Department of Education, providing delicious and nutritious food for both students and staff.

Students and staff can order from our Canteen Menu that provides food and beverage before school, at recess and lunch. Or they may choose something from our Daily Specials Menu for recess and lunch. Other specials and promotions will be advertised on Sentral and through Flexischools.

We prefer our customers use Flexischools, an online ordering system for school canteens. You can pay by VISA, Mastercard, PayPal or direct deposit in Flexischools. Customer orders through Flexischools will be available at the canteen for collection at the beginning of recess (for recess orders) and the beginning of lunch (for lunch orders). Breakfast orders are available over the counter only. Flexischools orders are collected from a separate window that moves very quickly compared to the cash and EFTPOS payment lines.

You can set up an account with Flexischools via the Flexischools app (for iPhone and iPad, please select 'Allow notifications') or on your computer. Or if you are already a Flexischools user from primary school, add Ryde Secondary College to your account for your RSC student.

Payment for orders taken over the counter are by cash, VISA or Mastercard (credit and debit cards) only. No credit is extended.

We employ three staff - Athena, Jodie and Hana, with help from four volunteers. They are courteous workers who expect the same level of courtesy shown to them. The words 'please' and 'thank you' are essential in our students' vocabulary!

Some other courtesies to help the College Canteen run smoothly:

  • Place Flexischools orders before 8:45 am.
  • Collect recess orders (when some students prefer to eat their main meal and some prefer a snack) and lunch orders from the canteen during those breaks. There is a separate line for Flexischools collections.
  • Form queues when making cash and credit/debit card purchases. The second student from the front stays on the marker with the others behind the line.
  • Be courteous to canteen staff at all times.
  • You must not be in the canteen unless queuing to purchase goods.
  • Purchase items only for yourself and not for friends.
