Year 7

Principal's message

Year 7 2024, I extend to you and your family, a warm welcome on behalf of the Ryde Secondary College community.

You will be joining a co-educational high school for more than 1440 students from years 7 to 12.

Your teachers really enjoy developing engaging learning experiences for everyone - in selective and gifted streams, mainstream and support unit groups.

Many students also value the practical hands - on experiences in Technology Mandatory, whilst others love the opportunity to do experiments in Science, play instruments in Music and do practicle lessons in PE and Visual Arts.

You must join one of more than 105 extra-curricular activities so you can develop your interests and talents, whether they be in dance, music, football, volleyball, politics, video, debating, SRC writing, environment or other interests. What a great way to make new friends!

The RSC sports program has many wonderful house sports and grade sports. There are so many to choose from - both in winter and summer. Many sports are also run as extra-curricular activities, including our fitness centre, running, volleyball and AFL.

Our Special Education Support Unit at RydeSecondary College supports our students with special needs and enjoys many shared experiences within the College. Access is provided to all specialist areas and most of the classrooms.

We greatly appreciate parental contributions in all forms. These include support at home with literacy and learning initiatives, P&C attendance, payment of subject fees and voluntary contributions, participation at key events, reading school newsletters and other communications like Sentral. We look forward to working in partnership with your family to foster your academic and social development.

Engage with others, connect and become active in our school community. Participation in broader school activities is important for you in developing your talents, leadership skills and constructive relationships. You will be supported by a positive school culture based on the values of Respect, Responsibility and Resiliance, great year advisors and school counsellors. Our extensive merit award program rewards you for your effort, achievment and participation.

Your teachers will strive every day to provide you with high quality public education at Ryde Secondary College.

We hope you really enjoy your learning journey.

School Opal Cards

Bus Timetables

Busways is the school bus operator that runs your schools' bus service. To find your childs school bus timetable visit the Busways website by using the following steps:

  1. Go to busways.com.au/nsw
  2. Click on 'school services' in the navigation bar and then proceed to 'school timetables'
  3. Enter the school's name in the field that says 'enter school name'
  4. Select the school's name and the timetable should open on your device.
  5. If you are unable to find or search for the schools name, use the drop-down menus on the same web page to find the school.
  6. Once the timetable is opened, you will be able to identify which school bus services are available in your area for your child to use.

School Uniform

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occuptional health and saftey, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation.
  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics.
  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities.
  • is suitable for all body shapes.
