Learning support team

Who We Are

The Learning Support Team is a group of specialist teachers who case manage students who do not meet social, academic and behavioural expectations in the classroom or playground. The team consists of the Head Teacher Special Education, Learning and Support Teacher, ESL teachers, Head Teacher Welfare, the School Counsellor, Deputy Principal, Careers Advisor and Transition Advisor.

What We Do

Our role is to identify these students, design, develop and implement strategies and resources that can be used in the classroom and in the wider community. Our team collects information about the students through formal assessments and testing, analysing student responses, informal interviews, observations and discussions with parents and care givers.

How We Do It

Students are supported in class and in the school community by the Learning and Support Teacher, School Learning and Support Officers, School Counsellor and where appropriate, outside agencies. Teachers and parents can refer student to the Learning Support Team, and students can seek help themselves.

Our Aim

Our aim is to have each student reach their potential, cultivate their strengths and be a happy and positive member of Ryde Secondary College and the greater community. We strive to empower teachers with resources and strategies and for parents and care givers to be an integral part of their child's education and social and academic growth.
