Career Advisers are an integral part of RSC, helping students as they develop their personal career plans and working closely with parents, teachers, employers, community agencies and other education and training organisations.
Career Education seeks to assist students to develop into responsible lifelong learners and decision makers through acquiring competency in:
- Personal skill management
- Learning and work exploration
- Career building
This will enable students to make considered choices and plan options in relation to anticipated or desired career pathways. Career decision making is facilitated by student participation in a range of the following activities offered at RSC.
Career Education
- Year 10 Career Education lessons to assist students with career interests, work experience and subject selection
- Workplace Learning for Years 9 to 12 on an individual release basis to suit the student’s interests Workplace Learning Policy
- External Vocational Education & Training courses at TAFE or private institutions as part of the senior program of studyTAFE Courses for School Students
- School Based Apprenticeships in conjunction with part-time employment
- TAFE ‘Youth Engagement Strategy’ programs to assist with the transition from school to TAFE
- School to Work Program to allow a smoother transition to entry-level employment and post-school training
- Career expos, events and markets for Years 9 – 12 students
- Guest speaker workshops with universities, UAC, TAFE, group training companies, employers, ex-students and industry groups
- RSC subscribes to JobJump and MHSCareers. Students and parents can receive weekly career newsletters and career resources.
Open Days and Information Days
Open Days are held by TAFE, universities and private institutions to develop general or specific career awareness in August and September each year. Open Days, parent information sessions and career events are advertised in the College news. Uni Open Days.

- Career planning with JIIG-CAL 'Career Voyage' to match individual interests, skills and abilities
- Individual counselling to support students in clarifying their ideas about career choices and directions.
- Information on job applications, resume preparation skills, and job interviews
- Advice regarding the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) application procedure and the different entry schemes

- Career Education operates across the College curriculum, including the School to Work Program
- Career Advisers are members of RSC student welfare and learning support teams
- Parents or carers may seek advice from the Career Advisers about post-school options and the tools available to guide students.
